An allrounder from Jamaica, Andre
Russell made his first-class debut at the age of 19 and developed into a
useful seamer and a reliable lower-order batsman. He made his way into
the West Indies A squad and captured plenty of attention when drowning
Ireland with his all-round exploits in a 50-over game in June 2010,
smashing 61 off 34 balls and taking 6 for 42. It was a performance that
would help him win a place in West Indies' World Cup squad.
At the tournament, Russell challenged England in a closely-fought
game in Chennai, taking 4 for 49 and threatening to pull off the chase
in a game his team eventually lost. He picked up five wickets in
Jamaica's fourth successive title win in West Indies' first-class
competition, and shone against India with a counter-attacking, unbeaten
92 in Antigua.
He will be looking to play as a specialist batman for Islamabad United in the PSL.
